Updates

The Jeep Conversion Trail will be opened around June.

DNR is looking into removing access to the northwest corner of Walker Valley. Removing access to this area will go a long way towards improving relations with the neighbors bordering Walker Valley. The biggest complaint is over noise, and moving our access to the main jeep trail farther east will put a friendly buffer between the neighbors and our favorite pastime.

At this time, DNR is looking to move the access to the main jeep trail. The plan is to start the trail at the top of the gravel pit, move along a ridge line northwest over to Pat’s trail, and from there, up to the main jeep trail. It is my understanding that the front of the jeep trail will be abandoned from the creek crossing back to the beginning.

The end of the jeep trail, where it drops back out of the trees onto a logging road will be abandoned also. This section of road has captured a stream and is channeling it down the trail. DNR is planning on rerouting the trail to connect farther down the logging road.

DNR acquired 120 acres of privet property, located in the middle of Walker. The connecting roads, and small wheeling trails, between the jeep trail and the jeep conversion trail. Will pass through this new land.

The Jeep cross will be reopened.

For now, DNR is planning on doing all the work. Most of the trail work to be done can be handled with a small excavator, or will only require marking the trail so we know the direction to go.

There will be a motorcycle poker run at Walker Valley on the 29th of April.

DNR will announce a user group meeting sometime around April.
