Headed out yesterday with a group of fellow BEST members and ran Isabel. I'd read on here and seen pictures of downed trees, but you have to see it to fully appreciate it!
In addition to the one treefall pictured on this site, there are four or five more that are comparable! A couple of us brought our chainsaws expecting to make sawdust, but some good souls beat us to it. :D
Once we reached the log bridge the snow was 6-12 inches deep and covering everything. I unknowingly nearly put my passenger tires off the durn bridge
Then we proceeded to flog our way up the rocks as best we could. Two of us got about half way up to the waterfall with minor winch assistance, a couple others broke a front axle and two shock mounts respectively. After fighting all that for a couple of hours we called it a day. Met some guy in a desert camoed exo-skeletoned XJ named Dan, he followed our broken axle casualty Bill out. Thanks Dan! :D
A hearty thank you to any and all who went out there and cut away all of that treefall on the trail, we would've spent all day doing just that had some folks not stepped up! :D
Cheers to the Reiter lumberjacks!!!
