i'm going to go out on a limb here....
drive in the snow? see how far you can get towards the top?
i'll be on my way to so-cal that morning, so i'm not going to make it, and with no windsheild, doors or heater, it might not be a pleasant day :redneck:
The snow gets deep real quick up ther Tom. Meet up and go you will like it.

I dont have the rig for snow wheeling! You need wheelspeed and horsepower. I have torque. Read a diesel engine that is NON turbo'd at the moment.

I think you would do fine. With the light weight and big tires you should be able to float right on top. But it is your rig and you know what it can do. :usa:

You mean, patience finesse, right?
Maybe so, but horsepower is also an issue. More often than not you arent always in ten feet deep snow. Sometimes it's traction, and for that you need HP.
I didnt say that I wouldnt go, just that I dont think my rig is set up best for it.

Anyway, what sort of snow are you running into that has enough traction to require real horsepower :hmmm: So how much power do you need to run on dry rock??

About 400hp is fun. Shoot ya up a 3 story cliff in no time. :redneck:

Crash-master, I understand. But it isnt always deep stuff. Ive wheeled up at Evans, sultan basin (when trails were open) Reiter, West fork of the miller, Walker valley in the winter. It's just been my experience that you often need HP to get yourself out of stuckness.
We havent found out whether people are going on this trip yet.

Your reference to HP is talking more of the trail snow you find(short hills, ice, exposed logs and such). In deep snow, I have maybe ONE time ever had to use excessive power to get thru something. But generally speaking, in deep/logging road stuff, thats not an issue, and more times than none, those with low crawl ratios can work thru it easier(those with auto's spurt hot fluid when they over heat, ha ha ha).
More than likely it will be tonga, its closer than iron goat and we can park our tow rigs at the ranger station..

Hey Sammy Guy go for it ! Check out USFS Volunteer snow run. I'm Robin the guy in blue watching the yota climb tha t snow bank That was about 4 1/2 to 5 ft tall and all snow . I had HP and wheelspeed and the yota made me look silly. He had low low gears and low air pressure and a four popper. Did'nt slip a bit. fin fin yea what he said nice and easy
So where would a guy meet you all and what time. I need more seat time in my rig if I can get away. If you don't mind wheelin with a newbie/old fart.

I'd recommend against it unless you have big/wide tires or run at the end of the pack. 2 years ago a burb held a whole lot of folks up and we ended up getting separated from everyone because of it. There is little opportunity to get around a stuck heavy rig and it's not a lot of fun digging yourself out when you run a heavy rig like a burb - you have to do a lot of digging to ramp yourself out of 5 feet of snow! :-) This isn't meant as a slam in any way and I have no idea what your burb is like. It's just that if the rig is anywhere near stock equipment and weight, 5 feet deep of snow isn't likely to be it's friend and there might be some folks behind you that are less than happy about it. Just my 2 cents though - take it for what you paid for it! LOL

from you, head down 405 to 522 interchange, head torwards monroe. at the end of 522, head east up highway 2. I am sure some people will be meeting in monroe. If I can get out of where I am, I will be up at the ranger station around 9 on highway 2 just east of skykomish...

Well, hint: do not let me stack on your front D44 tire and wedge my tire between your tire and wheel well, then you hit the gas back and forth trying to wedge it loose. :D :redneck: :D I don't think I did that corner any favors, though he's beat the snot out of it for a year long before my stacking on it occurred.

...about the run up on Tonga. I saw rigs from both Timbertamers and "Just for Fun" 4-wheel clubs up there. Possibly there was another club or two represented, I don't know. What I do know was that in the process of the day we had to pick up like 4 beer cans and some other refuse lying on top of the freshly fallen snow on Tonga above the "Y" that folks were having lunch at when Kash and I came down. Folks from those clubs might want to reiterate to their members the importance of leaving the place with any litter they brought along, not to mention the fact that litter is one of the biggest reasons cited that FS Rd. 62, McCoy Creek, and others have been shut down on us already!
Not meant to flame the innocent but hope those that did it feel the heat nonetheless!
