Hey all,
jsut a little curious as I plan on attending this weekend for the forest service tree patrol but am a little concerned as to wich rig to take. I have a 92 80 series with ome and 33"ers (those of you at walker work party saw it) and I woud rather drive it but am a little concerene about having someone who can pull me out if I get stuck. curious as to what size of rigs will be there jsut to be safe. if I am still scared can take the DD wich is a 87 mini truck on 31"ers but not as fun to drive as the 80
thanks in advance.

Tigger90YJ, I'll sum up a day for ya.. we start off by meeting at the forest service station and sign it. then head out with maps of the roads that the public [people with tree cutting tickets] will use to find a tree. We just run the snow covered roads and look for stuck Mini vans/suv's and help them out. And we get to play in the snow while providing a service. it's alot of fun. last year we didn't have snow till later in the year but this year looks good.:bounce2:

Sounds like alot of fun, I don't have a winch but I do have a snatch strap. What are the requirements to do this?

Vehicles must be street legal. ORV tags are not good enough, I found this out a couple years ago.

I am used to driving in snow from growing up in MI and I have good driver judgement on and off road. I don't think I would be there this weekend I am working Saturday but next weekend I could be there (5/6 Dec) if not working.

I have a 90 YJ, 2000 4.0 & NV3550, NP231 w/SYE, D30/8.8 4.10's, open front traclok back, 2.5" Lift 32" M/T tires and should be TJ Flares by then. Next mod is a winch!

anyone need a ride along, i want to help but the trucks a little too light for snow, and its my first season driving it in the snow (had a car last year). I think ive talked my teachers into giving me community service credit for doing somthing like this. Maybe I could follow somone elses truck, and give a hand when needed...

well saturday was a good time but our group was a bit small. Rain Country had a large group and ran the Finney pass area. We ran up the 1120rd and 1125 rd till we could go no further. the snow was deep and heavy. I was pushing it over my axle in my toy with 37's. Maybe I will catch some of you again on this sunday.

Nice pics! I'm up for Sat. I should have my dash back together by then. Looks like a good test for my new"high performance " heater motor. I'd appreciate knowing who to meet. I have no clue of the area but I think i can find the ranger station. It's a long way from central Whidbey to find I got the wrong day Thanks

The USFS office is at 810 Hwy 20 in Sedro, just stay on 20 on/off the island, head East through Burlington to Sedro, go through town and its just before the last light at the Hwy 9/Township St intersection. Across from Rallye Auto sales and next to the AM/PM on the North (left) side of the road. (by 9:00 am)

Found a few pics from that day also.

My daughters Sarah (2½) and Rebekka (6½). They love the snow. Rebekka reminds me of that kid off of "the christmas story" when all bundled up, he couldnt move:redneck:
