Using the real shallow fuel cell that Robin had before, should I go for one of the tube-type fuel level senders, or the arm&float type?

It depends on how the tank is setup. Is there a baffel? Is there room for an arm/float style? One doesn't have an advantage over the other in how it works, comes down to room...

Yea, there are hella baffles. Can you cut the arm down on the float-type? Can you cut the tube down on the tube-type?

It's a really wide, long, fuel cell that's only about 4.5" tall, with about a 6" deep sump. in the middle. There's about a foot square area inside before you come to a baffle.

Ideas??

My homemade 23 gal tank is about 6" deep. I bought a universal sending unit from NAPA. The arm that the lever mounts to is adjustable so you don't have to mess with the swing of the arm at all. It works ok.

WAS THAT YOU TAT CALLED ME LAST NIGHT...?
sorry, i didnt meen to blow ya off so quick. i did a bit of looking, and most tube type ones i found are setup for a 9" deep tank.

realisticly, you'd want to disregaurd the capacity of the sump, so you'd have a 4.5" depth, you'd wind up with an arm length of about 4" if i remember corectly.
what resistance range did you need for the gauge and ill see what i can come up with..

iir you said 0-90 ohm?
i just pulled one off the shelf, and looking at it, the min tank depth is 6" ....
you might be able to get creative and modify the mounting bracket so it'll work in yours.
ill have it sitting at my desk if ya wana swing by...
