I just picked up a tranny and need to know what it is.
Its a 4-speed GM tranny with a granny low 1st gear.

Top of the tranny has:

3901131
GM 25
then a small embossed tag (cast into the cover) that says K77 on it.

The drivers side has a 6-bolt PTO plate on it.

The passenger side also has a 6-bolt PTO plate.

passenger side has:

16
GM
465462

Im thinking this is a SM465. If so, what is the gear ratios?

Thanks :redneck:

Its defiantly a 465.... I unloaded it by myself out of the trailer the other night and something rolled down my pant leg :redneck:

How does it compare in overall size (length, heighth) when compared to a SM420? I was looking for a SM420 to put in the 42 flat fender, but came across this one. Trying to decide if I should use it, find a 420, or what. Anyone have a use for it? May be willing to part with it or trade for a SM420.

I would choose the 465 over the 420. Newer, shifts easier, more gears syncroed.
