How are you boys keeping your 22R's cool. what temp thermostat are you using. Mine gets pretty warm. Do you guys recomend an electronic fan? if so what kind. I researched a bunch of them. just wondering what you recomend. Maybe an aluminum radiator?

I just use an electric fan that I picked up at a wrecking yard, I only use it when hitting deep mud holes like powerline in Naches, it cakes my radiator with mud, I rinse off what I can, but it sometimes still heats up, so the fan keeps it cool, till I get home. my .02

Turbo or 2 stage thermostat. Water Wetter helps too.

If all you stuff is in proper working order, you should not have a problem.. Don't mask `the problem by adding crap to it..

one thing ive allways done regardless of what eng its going in, is to drill a 1/8" hole in the edge of the thermostat, the when i install it, i make sure that the hole is to the top.
what this does is provide a place for air/steam pockets to escape. it also makes filling the cooling system ezer since you no longer have to burp it.

not all thermostats need this mod, alot of the good ones now a days have a hole with a loose rivit in it, you just have to take the time to make sure the hole is to the top.

another tip is since it realy doesnt get super cold around here, only run about 30% anti freeze and 70% water. also, the orange anti freeze works better than the green...

Odds are yer fan clutch is not working properly. You would hear it if its working right. If it is working and you are still running hot its probably yer radiator.

If you get hot on the road doing more than about 15MPH, it's most likely your radiater. A 22 shouldn't be too tough to cool. If the problem occurs more on the trail or when sitting, probably a fan problem.

Its very common for the toy rads to plug up in the middle. A very easy way to tell, run it hot, shut it down and put your hand on the middle of the rad.... It should be as hot as the outer edges, if not, there is your problem.

Might as well get a new one. www.radiatorbarn.com and www.radiator.com both have good prices compared to any local places I tried when I bought one last year. You could also upgrade to a turbo rad too.
