Well Well Well,
Where do I start.
#1 Sunday 9 NOV 2003 went to Reiter.
C.O.R.E. had an organized run, I avoided.
The Motorbike guys (didn't see who organized it) had the entire powerline area and parts of the upper Reiter area taped off and marked for a trials run of some sort.
That would have been fine but I had no Idea the event was occuring and No Signs were posted I just kept coming across taped off roads and angry attendants.
I turned around and was courteous to their event but I did remind them Reiter IS A PUBLIC AREA and it would have been nice to see some signage at the main parking lot.
Which brings me to
#2 I met a kid stuck in the swamps leading to the wall trail. My Scrambler bud Jack winched him out then we all continued to the Wall outlook.
We got to talking and the kid asked me If I'd run "the Squeeze" I said I don't know lets go check it out.
To make a long story short "the Squeeze" is "Tighty".
He entered from the east side off the main road where there WERE signs.
I told him the road and entire area was off limits and why it was closed but he went in anyways.
Yea I'm a looser I sould get his liscense # & and call the pigs right?
Well I didn't , Why?
The fawking Motor bikes had their GODDAMN COURSE RUNNING THROUGH IT!! Orange signage with black arrows pointing into it and posted within.
Since the warning road clsed signs were gone there I decided to check out the blocked entrance to Tight ass.
Guess what?
The signs are still there but there is a go around.
I'm pissed.
I try to obey the rules and do the right thing only to find out that some fuckheads are breaking the rules INCLUDING THE BIKERS!!!!:flipoff:
Sure would like to know the status of Tighty, it wasn't initially supposed to get closed but to our surprise got shut down. Maybe its cool to run it again?
Just venting here guys and letting you'all know whatI saw thiss weekend.

I would have kicked that little fawkers ass
....and would have found the person responsible for the bike course and asked to see his permit.
Organized events at Reiter legally must have a permit especially if they are going to be closing areas down and running in areas that have been officially closed.
:wtf:
I guess this needs to be brought up at the next meeting at Everett Powersports.

They had a Permit.
I know you'd kick his ass Jobless BUT there were smoking fresh tracks going in there (Bikes) and the signage was nowhere to be found.
That's what got me wondering.
BTW the kid nows now he's wrong and all the gory details. I gave him WAY more information than he wanted to hear :redneck:

You right, I need to make it to the friggn meeting before I can bring it up though!!
Fortunately I don't have any unforseen shee-at coming up for the 19th so I will be going.
All I would ask of the bikers is to post on a 4x4 Users site the event so we could plan on staying away.
I don't have a problem with that what I do have a problem with is surprises!!

It's cool they had a permit but not cool going through a closed trail. I say look up whos name is on the permit and confront them. If that trail is still closed there should be fines handed out.

Well I told him that the area was closed because of the water getting into the roadway and that the motorcycle users called to Fisheries people and got us all into hot water.
Also that the area was closed to all users to keep all of Reiter open.
After that I let him do his own thing. for the above reasons.

Do we really want the bikers posting stuff here?
We can be responsible for ourselves and do a search and list the NMA and trials guys sites here and you guys can check those regularly for scheduled dates of events.
Here is the NMA sites listing of bike clubs including the puget sound trialers...based in Sultan. It appears that the stumpjumpers are the ones who held the event 11/9 at Reiter http://www.stumpjumpers.org/

Sure Why not?
Maybe not all the Bikers I'm sure there would be many Flame wars, but possibly a responsible guy like Mike Leibold from Everett Powersports or another older, less biased member of the ORV group in Snohomish.
Yes we could look at other usergroups websites but since this type of thing doesn't actually occur very often I would welcome the courtesy of a heads up from the other group we share the area with.
Maybe an e-mail could be sent to an Admin here to post so the messenger doesn't get strung up here as well.
Just a thought.

If I remember correctly it was someone from the Stumpjumpers that alerted the Dept. of Fish and Wildlife in the first place.... and now they are running their events thru there:mad:

Dave I can understand your frustration, but guess what, DNR manages the land, state law requires license plates or ORV tabs, US Forest Service roads are exactly the same way. Its the law you dont like, write your legislative rep.
They (im implying DNR -like EVERY OTHER state agency) can only enforce or require what state law allows or mandates they do, no more, no less.

well concidering i DID have a valid ORV registration both on the vehicle and on my person, and was not on a main road, i was not doing anythign illegal, the officer failed to see how a home built, state inspected, state assigned ORV could run ORV sticerks and that i was obviously doing somethign illegal by not having my valid washington state licence plates... somethign i could never get for my buggy since it was assigned as an ORV...

Steve Davies
Doesn't suprise me a bit based on his attitude toward me the day I met him.
Oh.. and if he ever bitches about loosing Tahuya to events... thats THEIR fault. If they would volunteer the hours to be authorized to have events... they wouldn't have the problem in the first place. ;)
One thing to check though.. before lighting the torches and getting the nuices (sp) ready. Make sure that the DNR didn't say "ok" to their use of it.

Why does Crash have to be expected to be the "Park Steward" ?
All anyone has to do is go to the ORV meeting in Snohomish the 3rd Wed of every month to get a new sign.
Sure Crash is the man but anyone here can take on the responsibility too.

Mike, Ken, & Tommy went up there last time to make sure that trail was blocked off. They also put signs as high up on the trees as they could.
People are just going to keep doing whatever they please until they get the trails closed down or we until we start catching people & start turning them in.

Yeah.. imagine how pissed the mostly bikers would be during a race to get pulled to the side and ticketd. LOL
btw - Unless those of you doing the most in that area start playing buddy buddy with DNR and getting to know them personally, like SOME of the people causing us problems seem to do. I don't see anything getting better. ;)
