Just lookin for some ideas right now for a winch bumper for the XJ I dont have a winch yet but I got baried today and had to have someone come winch me out and dont wanna have to worrie aboot it . I think I am gonna put a mile marker winch on it

Truckfarm.com or FourReal both make sick bumpers. I think I wheeled with you the day of the comp @ Monroe, I was in the TJ.

Ya but it wouldn't go good on a full bodied XJ. Maulers bumper is only like a 2 1/2 feet wide.

smallxj I will help you finish maulers bumper to fit your rig for free you buy it and 20$ worth of steel. I am pretty good with bumpers. Or we could build your own for about the same price.

gpnfamily I looked at maulers bumper didnt like it very much so I if you could help me make one that would be great. I wanna make one like a warn but without the brush gaurd

as far as winches go MM is very slow, i mean so slow you will be pissed you didnt get something faster. after the winching is done everyone will be packed and in thier rig ready to go and you will still be spooling your cable ten minutes later.

just MHO

warn makes a no frills 8000lb winch for about 500 brand new. there is a thread on the pirate board about them. much better option than a MM.

Here's a simple idea that's out there that I'm sure people have mixed reveiws on.

2" receiver hitch in the front w/ the winch mounted on a plate with 2" square tube. It's an off the shelf part, less expensive & one heck of alot lighter than those 250lb bumpers.

The only draw back is that you would have to remove & install the winch when you wanted to use it, so it would take a few extra minutes.

On the bonus side though you would not loose any of your approach angle being that you wouldn't have big bumper & winch on the front running into shit all the time. It would alos put less stress on that Dana 30 front axle being that it weighs a fraction of all those bumpers.

If you decide to do what Jobless suggested and had a reciever hitch in the rear too, all you would need would be some longer power cables and you would have a front or rear winch
