This is a good question for snowpooper, imean trooper. Sounds like he's an installer and would have some good insight on this matter. I've ran them with pheonix gold, and soundstream with good results.

Well any amp thats 4ohm stable, MOST will work up to about 450watts, its ok for the amp to be bigger just dont get one thats 200 watts and then turn the gains up to get some more bump out of it, thats the fasted way to blow a sub, the amp starts cliping the signal and sending the sub straight power 12v + power. You should be able to find some amp at car toys or bestbuy thats a 4 channel that u can bridge down to 1 channel. there are alot of RF amps that can do that but u might want to up your price level to about 250$ to get something more usefull.
actually you want an amp that is 1ohm stable for best performance but that can be somewhat expensive best bet call josh at car stero plus mt.vernon and see what he says. he is a good friend of mine. i am running 3 10" dual twos at a 3ohm load on my amp wired in series parallel. LOUD VERY LOUD!
bye the way don't buy any fosgate equipment it is junk gone way downhill in the past few years!!!! just my 2cents worth

If we want to get technical here, he doesn’t HAVE to run the sub at 1ohm to get the best performance out of it. Running at 1ohm or 2 ohm to the woofer doesn’t care. The woofer actually is capable off appling those loads to the amp. Now if you have an amp that’s 1ohm stable then yes wiring the sub for 1ohm will get you the best performance from the amp. Now If the amp is not stable down to 1ohm then you will either fry the amp or the woofer. Having subs with dual voice coils capable of multiple Ohm loads lends itself to really just help accommodate different wiring needs.
As for amps that would run this sub and stay close to his price range then i dont see many quality choices that will put out the max power the sub is rated for at 1 ohm. Any quality Class D amp are way more then the 200$

We can debate over a quality of manufacturers equipment any day. Just make sure you have enough background with them. Right now im running an all Fosgate rig with their POWER series amps. Not the same as the Punch line u see in most large retail chains. I feel the quality is very good and im happy with there products when used correctly. I’ve seen many blown up pieces of various equipment do to bad installs and just flat out abuse.

What model # amp was it? Its going to be a little harder to find your self an amp that puts out 400+ watts @ 4 ohm, and more expensive then 200$ for an amp thats able to go down to 1 ohm.

you wont get the power you need, or u will blow the amp. you need to wire it the right way. Find yourself a amp thats 4 ohm stable bridged, and you will be set. look at some of the Fosgate 2 channel amps.
