How do you get the ball joint out of the pitman arm on the toyota boxes. I was able to get the tie rod pressed out but im not sure how to take the ball joint out of the end of the pitman arm. It looks like its pressed in there but im not sure. Also does anyone know the size and pitch of the big nut that holds the pitman arm on?

it should be pulled off with a puller .

86 newer boxes are a 18mm 1.5 mertric thread . if you are doing some sort of x under steering the dont worry about replacing the pitman arm your problem might be solved by using a standard saginaw box( 1/2 ton chevy if the geometry of you steering is heading that way
second note is that welding & configuring a drag link and x over steering may require modifying the pass side steering arm if I' close note me back aircrawler

Basically get a vice and beat on it. If you have a cut off wheel cut the stamped cover off the top and just hit stuff so it comes out. Im taking it you have a tre insert for a stock pitman....
Edit. 36mm nut.
