Theyre old school mud terrains. Theyre a really long-lasting compound but dont air down well at all, too stiff. They were really popular before the Boggers came out. They still make them though. I have a picture of a first gen yota on 40" gumbos.

Gumbo monster mudders were the shizzy way before swampers were even around and Ground hawgs too :) Real meatty tires that rode like you were in a tank even when aired down to 2-4 pounds

gumbo mudder = buckshot mudder. i don't think they make them any more, denman and gateway were the producers :(
when i bought my '79 toy, it had a set of ancient buckshots on it. they're like a more agressive BFG but louder than a TSL and mine were so hard that i once crashed into a sidewalk making a turn in the rain at 10mph(absolutely zero wet traction)

I wheeled the Hawgs, man if you had the power to get those things going in the mud, they would dig to china. Those tires are what I had on my first rig, oh the memories. Thats when a 36" tire on the street was huge, ya they had 44's but nobody could afford them were I was from.
Do you still have it? is all cracked out? I got my a redneck project in mind. :redneck:

15'' or 16.5'' rim size is all they made. I had 3 of these (44x18.5x16.5)setting around for two years and never could find a fourth 44'' tire. Ended up trading them for a rebuilt th400. They measured short, about 41-42'', but the tread was down some. A guy here in town ran some of these in the 40'' size, not a great tire by todays standard but ok for the mud.

isnt this the same as todays buckshots?? if so a friend of mine is runnin some on his yota in a 36/7 and they arent even half as good as my 39.5 tsl's but then again his have like 50% tread and mine are only 4 inches wider
lol
id take that 44 if only i had room for the biotch

Don't know about the Dana 44s, but the rest of that sounds like a brown CJ-5 I saw parked at Olympic 4x4, or maybe it was still Mr Jeeps, back in the late 80s.
