I'll make this brief.... :)
Toyota #1 Stolen 85? Toyota "2 door" (per KCSO)from Maple Valley Aug 4th. (KCSO would not release any specifics to me about this vehicle.)
Toyota #2 (Mine) 88 Toyota P/U Stolen from East Hill of Kent (King County)
Toyota #3 Stolen 86 4 Runner from Issaquah Plateau 4,5 or 6 Aug, owner was out of town.
Aug 8th, KCSO recovered Toyota #1 between Hobart and Ravensdale on 276th Ave SE ne SE 272nd St. Per the detective I talked to this vehicle was totally stripped, including engine. This was an 85 Toyota truck, KCSO wouldn't tell me anything more about it
Aug 10th, KCSO recovered Toyota #2 at 196th Ave SE and SE 248th st. (1.6 miles West of the front door of KCSO Maple Valley Precinct 3 offices.
Aug 15th, KCSO recovered Toyota #3 at Fred Meyers - Covington (KCSO contracts to city of Covington) 167th SE and SE 272nd St (Kent-Kangley)
The front license plate from Toy #1 was found on Toy #2, KCSO would tell me nothing more about this vehicle and deputies did not follow through on my requests that they contact this RO to find out what else he was missing from his. I had other stuff on my rig that wasn't mine. Toy #2 winch and winchbumper gone! along with about 3,500 worth of wheels, tires and other equipment.
Just by pure chance (actually extremely high odds) my wife is a co-worker of the owner of Toyota #3 and as he was leaving his office to recover it he mentioned to my wife were he was going. As soon as he explained this to her she called me. Short story pictures received from TOY #3 on Friday the 19th showed some of my personnel gear in it. I was not able to get to that stuff until Monday as #3 Toy didn't catch my late email on Friday. I only recovered some tools an ice chest and my floor mats, but this positively linked all three of these Toyotas (probably all stolen the night of Aug 4th-5th)
On Monday the 21st after recovering some of my stuff from #3, I went directly to the Precienct 3 offices and hooked up with a couple detectives. After over an hour of what I now percieve as a condescending discussion with 'the system', I learned that they probably would not find these guys no my missing equipment. I had given them a 9 page outline with pictures of everything I could not account for off my vehicle, two pages on Toyota #3, including pictures, and a single page on Toy #1.
I think they were more concerned with how I had learned so much while they didn't have any connection with either of these vehicles with any other. #3 lost a lot of stuff and ended up with a lot of junk/garbage Toyota parts.
The only thing I really gleaned from my discussion with KCSO deputies was that Toyota #1 was totally raped, stripped, gutted and wiped clean by 'professionals'. I'm as cynical about this 'condition' as they were about me having more information in 3 days.
So, that's the "brief" version! I can go on :bounce1:
And as a footnote:, my discussion today with a local journalist who has discussed these Toyota thefts with a detective Sgt. indicated that 'since January only ~500 autothefts in precinct 3 so far, but there 'is no evidence of a Toyota theft ring working in the area', only 41 of those vehicles were Toyota trucks. The way I see this, if those numbers are even close to accurate, that's a paltry 8 percent of Precinct 3 stolens! (Heck that's less than 10 percent!)
Now, if we were to get the numbers of recovered Toyota 'trucks' in 3, I wonder what those statistics might show?. (Maple Valley and Covington's figures are not included in KCSO statistics.)
And a certain detective doesn't think their is a problem with Toyota thefts in the Maple Valley area? If I used my figures for the information I know of, I can say that 100 percent of the Toyota trucks stolen on Aug 4-5 in a 20 miles radius ended up in the Maple Valley area. But 'there's no evidence of a pattern!'
