Hey guys, I need you to keep an eye out for this, or any sudden new acquisitions or offers of Toyta parts that seem a little odd, out of wack or unusual. Especially because this will most likely get 'parted out, stripped, chopped or whatever your favorite term might be', please be suspicious if you suddenly run across parts that might have come from this truck especially the winch or tires.

I've spent many hours on past trips and trail cleanups with many of you guys in past years in my 89 Blue 4 Runner.

Every vehicle has some personal touches and identifiers that will help them stand out in a crowd, mine is no exception. I'm sorry this is so detailed to the point of possibly boring the hell out of you guys but I want my baby back.

Here are some things that might help ID this one.

It is not lifted, everything is stock with a few exceptions as noted.
Entry may have been forced but no windows were broken out and it is quite probable that I had left it unlocked. It is also possible that the ignition was not 'punched'

I do not mean to imply that anyone on this list might have had something to do with this rig's disappearance. I know though that all of you Toy guys are always looking for something more to add or replace on your rigs. You are always looking at any 4x4 and especially Toys because you know how awesome they are especially when it comes to 'recovering or towing' other types of 4x4s :lame: with the caveat that we sometimes allow others to tow us just so they can get some practice and not be totally lame.

Inside the cab, not attached to the steering wheel "The Club" a steering wheel locking device by Wilson sporting goods. I've never been paranoid, I only used it when locking it up away from home.
If you have one, use it!

Kenwood Stereo AM/FM/CD Model KDC-3011 This is a model with the removable faceplate. What is unique about this one is that the radio & cd work fine, the lights on the faceplate do not work.

First aid kits, I think there were two in there.

A reflectorized fishnet type safety vest.

A pair of inexpensive stereo speakers lying (tightly fit) on the bench behind the seats.

A "Quadrant Corporation" green fabric bound notebook.

A really beat up copy of DeLorme's Washington Atlas.

Under the rear bench a small grey tool box with xtra electrical parts and electrical tape & tester.

Stock tire jack and handle.

Under the passenger side seat. Jumper Cables
Behind the passenger side seat. Yellow tow strap, hooks both ends.

Also in the cab was an XL electric blue in color Tommy Hilfinger rainjacket, pull over with hood attached.

Exterior:

Right front factory tow hook had been torn out of the frame. It is missing that hook.

Back up lights on one side was not working, possibly both were out. These were high intensity back up lights, not stock.

In the bed is a heavy rubber mat cut to fit.

Front of the bed is painted with a cheap spray in bedliner. None of the rest of the truck has this spray on it except part of the front Smittybilt.

Inside the bed was a white over blue ice chest containing a tool bag, black in color (Harbor Freight cheapy) with an assortment of tools, some were Thorson-allied 3/8s and 1/4 drive sockets and a odd variety of other stuff. Also in the ice chest an old hatchet with sheath a small 5# sledge hammer and other junk. Inside bottom of the ice chest has some heavy rust stains.

And last, I think, is the SmittyBilt dual tube winchmount front bumper. It has seen a lot of the Cascades, Tahuya , bits and pieces of Death Valley and the Panamints, and a bunch of Arizona. It's 'used', has plenty of dings and nicks and scratches. Some of which were sprayed over with 'One Step' and/or Dupli-Color Spray Bed Coating.

On the top of the bar that wraps over the winch on the sides of the top corners (side and top) had been drilled and tapped for off road light mounting brackets I had on my 4 Runner. There is nothing mounted in these holes.

Under the hood, all stock 22ee except for an add on air horn mounted on home made brackets on the fender well near the firewall. Blue and Grey in color with twin horns mounted behind the grill.

The good news is that my HiLift Jack, winch controls, snatchblocks, shackles, straps and the rest of my recovery gear was not in it because I had just used it to haul a load to the dump. Also very good news, my inflatable pontoon boat would have been in it for a float trip today (Aug 5th), but I forgot to load it last night!

One final touch, a brand new "Proud To Be American" sticker was placed in the window behind the driver's seat yesterday morning.

Okay, lots of information but in your day-to-day pursuits you may key in on one or more of these clues.

Watch out for buddies that are, for example, unemployed & broke all the time and all of a sudden have a bunch of Toy 4x4 goodies on their rigs or 'for sale cheap'.

My experience tells me that we may see only pieces and/or parts of this rig in the future. In King county (and all of Washington for that matter), chances of recovery, intact, are extremely low.

Thanks guys.... please keep your eyes on the road or trail and watch for my truck as a first priority after women in halter tops in this weather.

Until you have had a vehicle stolen, you'll never know the feeling. You feel totally violated. Your comment was unnecessary.

If you get anything stolen you feel very violated. 3 years ago my house was broken into and they just backed a truck through our yard and up to a window and unloaded 17,000 bucks worth of stuff and trashed our house. I couldnt sleep for days. I kept thinking that if they could get in anyone could get in.

Youngest one graduated 2003, Kirstina.

Nope, did not hear of the crash and burn in Kent. Probably not mine as I have not been notified by PD or KCSO.

I'll look into it.

Hope that driver was hurt bad and will pay for it the rest of his life.

Well the good news is, the truck was recovered near Maple Valley today.

The bad news is, virtually everything else is gone. Ignition was punched, the engine and all running gear was intact and no glass was broken out and most of the interior was intact, body damage was not too bad.

Tires and wheels they (the thief/thieves) put on it were not mine, front bumper was not mine, nor was the license plate that was on that bumper. While there was some damage done to the vehicle it is all minor, expensive, but minor.

While I appreciate their consideration and thank these scum bags for not destroying the truck or dumping it on some back road somewhere (it was left on a major arterial in South King County) where it might have been stolen or parted out again, they are now on my 'list of things to do,' and I have a lot of time on my hands.

Hopefully I can enlist all of you guys to help me recover these parts and hopefully prosecute the dirtbags that felt they were more entitled to these items than I was.

I'll try to get out a complete list of facts, including photographs and specific detail tomorrow and with a REWARD incentive impose on you guys to forward that list to every 4x4 dude in Western Washington that you know of.

More later.

I have considered 'kill switches' but it is unlawful to booby trap your home, vehicle or property. If somebody dies as a result, they call it 'pre-meditated'... duh, no shit?!

The guy(s) that got my stuff are very fortunate, they have the law to protect them. :lame:

On that note, the 'fellow employee' where my wife works, that lost his Red 85 4 Runner the same week-end (5th-7th) recovered his out of Black Diamond yesterday, no suspects, no arrests, no tires, wheels, interior....etc. I'll post details when I get them from him.

Just as an fyi "kill switches" would not fall under that catagory.....All it does is stop someone from starting your vehicle.

BTW glad to hear you got your rig back.
