Hello Walker Valley ORV enthusiast:

I was asked by our trail maintenance crew that is doing work under an IAC grant through the end of March to let you know of some trail closures that we have learned of due to logging activity that is expected to start Tuesday February
15th. As you know Walker Valley is State trust land that is managed to generate revenue from timber harvesting. This revenue is used to build schools and to support other local government and state programs.

One of our goals is to keep you better informed on trail closures due to logging operations in Walker Valley. Trails will be cleaned of logging slash by the logging company as they progress with the logging. We cannot give you an exact date as to when the trails will be reopened because this will depend on how quickly the logging gets done. But it is safe to say that at least some of
these trails noted in this message will be closed for a couple months or more.

However, we will be monitoring the logging progress and will try to open up trails as soon as we are allowed to.

The following logging closures will take effect as of Tuesday February 15th - notice of closure sings will be posted on the trails and at the trail headparking areas:

Cavanaugh Loop Trail will be closed from the B-1000 entrance to the Tie Trail that enters the Peter Burns Road north of I-5 Trail. The entire I-5 Trail will also be closed due to logging.

The logging operations will be meeting the Peter Burns Road from the middle portion of I-5 Trail to the north. For public safety when the logging is going on near the Peter Burns Road, signage will be in place as well as a watchman as needed. We will keep you updated and informed on any changes as they occur.

Thank you for respecting these closures and enjoy your riding!

If you have any questions you can call me (Jim Cahill) at 360-856-3500.

Also, thanks to Rick Foster and Elyse Lamie who are managing the trail maintenance for passing on this information.
